I have been on a roll with finding interesting and useful products that make daily business and support functions easier. Even though I may not have an immediate need for this particular product today, once again, I’ve bookmarked this site so that I can easily find it if and when the need arises.
What product am I talking about? It’s called GoToAssist, and the product is useful for individuals as well as businesses. Here’s what it does in a nutshell.
• With GoToAssist a person can provide live computer support to customers around the world without leaving the comfort of their office.
• GoToAssist requires no pre-installation and can support both PC and Mac users.
• Three simple steps are all that is needed to begin a support session. First, using the phone or email, invite your customer(s) to a remote support session. Second, the customer clicks the link in the email and is instantly taken to the support session. Three, you can then remotely view and control the customer’s computer as if you were sitting there with them.
• Support unattended computers.
Even though this product is marketed to IT (Information Technology), software and accounting technology consultants, I can see other applications for the product. For example, let’s say you find someone to design your personal website (yes, I know this is still technology related), and you would like the designer’s support in helping you with a problem, wouldn’t it be nice if the designer could control your computer and see for themselves what can sometimes be hard to describe with words? Imagine how much faster your problem could be solved if you didn’t have to play phone tag and go back and forth as the designer worked through your issues.
Like I said, I don’t have a need for a product like this right now, but I can certainly see its value. Have any of you ever tried GoToAssist? If you have, what did you think about it? What did you customers think?
